Cargo gig pix Dec 17

Guitars Who Cares gig pix

Photos of the band onstage at the Guitars Who Cares all-dayer, put on by Poupee Visage at Green Door Store (as you just might be able to tell from the glowing backdrop).  They’re grainy because they’re stills from a video camera – sadly the footage was unusable because we were too loud for the mic.  It was a good gig.

“Threaten Me with Your Love” – new video

EP released 25th October 2017

Some photos of Thursday’s full-band gig.  Mik and Steve sounded great – dead showbiz.

18th Dec gig photos

Some photos by Heather Johnson of last night’s Green Door Store gig supporting I, Ludicrous (except no. 4, by Phil of Spinning Chilli).

Went very well, especially for a first gig as a duo.  A high note to finish 2016 on.

(Think I, Ludicrous have forgiven me for bailing out on their set due to transport issues the first time I supported them a while ago…  They were inconsolable for years, of course.)

Balcony Session live: behind the scenes

fireworks, car alarms, gales and rain

A few pics taken by Andrew Nicholls & others at Angle Magazine HQ in Eastbourne last week – where I went to perform a live music video as part of their Balcony Sessions series.  Went pretty well… climate and other distractions aside.

Look out for the session on their website.

(Except it never appeared: the magazine went under before they got around to it.  Ah well, was fun)

Trans Pride & beyond

can you tell which one’s me?

Had a blast backing Crysi di Milo at Trans Pride last weekend (then in a sex-dungeon at Fag Machine on Wed 29th).  We absolutely killed, so might go into a studio soon and make some horrendous noise, see what happens.  Both events were lovely and it was a privileged buzz to play a – very minor, but fun – part.

Wed 8 July gig – photos to snare the eye!

grey is not a rock n roll colour

The Phantom Hound gig went down on Wednesday, and here on my Facebook page are some great photos taken by Andrea Shamlou – all the artists, all the atmosphere, the very smells themselves.

Many thanks to those who came, those who played, and those who supported in other ways: it was a blast.  Hopefully I’ll do it all again in September, but different.  x

Hot TV action

Seasonal fear!  Here’s a new song from me at 6min26 called Dead Men Sing Us To Our Rest – very apt for the dark, hushed mortuary time of year it was shot and broadcast…

This is episode 4 of StageUp Unplugged, which went out on local TV & Virgin 159 just before Xmas, now archived to their Youtube channel.  Do check it out – there’s other good stuff on there, plus it’s an interesting and worthwhile outfit: a Social Enterprise involved in mental health.

More news (and hopefully, gigs) soon.

launch gig photos

some pics by Agata Urbaniak from last night’s launch of In The Evil Empire

(l-r: MF, Dolly Dollycore, Pete Wiseman, Vicky Gould & Stephen Bad Mother-Folker)

It went very well indeed – thanks to all who came, and I’ll probably stick some video highlights on Youtube soon.

behold Waterghosts on film

watch on Youtube

A 3-part video of the Waterghosts live performance at St Mary’s Church (Brighton Fringe Festival) can now be watched on Youtube.

I’m in Part 2 (see above) – here’s Part 1 & Part 3.

It’s an astonishing document.  Have a look, draw yr own conclusions…

a new lyrics video: see here!

This is the lyrics video to forthcoming single In The Evil Empire, due to be released on The Animal Farm in 2014.

Scrutinize it.

feast yr eyes…

…As you can see, it’s an interesting place, the kind worth playing Just Because (that thing in the 3rd photo’s a beyond-vintage speaker, not a municipal radiator, btw).  Gig went well and got recorded – might stick it on Soundcloud, whole or in part, in the near future.

FUTURES & PASTS

old news and new news…

New: looks like I’ve finally got a band together, at least the strong framework of one.  All we lack – perhaps – is a keyboard or synth (or even laptop) player.  It’s sounding great so far…  Exciting stuff.

Also, been getting some more airplay on Brighton’s Burst Radio – check em out.

Old: my former band Empty Vessels now has a Youtube channel here.  There’s live footage in 3 parts, and also loads of free audio on Bandcamp.  While I don’t want to make the mistake of raking around in the past too much, it captures the chaos and focused energy of those days – just as well I’ve got a new band, really.

album THIS MUCKY AGE released 25th July

This Mucky Age is now on sale, and is available all over the internet (Amazon, Spotify etc), or from Bandcamp.

The Bandcamp version features lyrics, 4 different versions of the cover art, and B-sides to the deleted singles (June 2021).

It’s here: Hands Up single & video released today

The single Hands Up can be bought at Bandcamp, or through Amazon and all the other usual outlets…  Also, there’s a video on Youtube – check it out.*

*June 2021: as with previous single, this no longer exists as a separate recording but can be heard on the album…

a volcano in a brothel

It’s not a mess of cardboard, tin foil and spray-on lube, it’s an installation.

Been finishing up the artwork for the album.  It looks like the above-mentioned gaudy nightmare, or maybe the sickest box of chocolates you ever saw.  For a glossy effect – a dewy sheen, even – I sprayed the assembled layers with what I thought was tanning lotion.  I’m told it’s actually an “instant glisten” oil, ie. something people spray on themselves to look all sleek.

Here are some samples of the work in progress:
